Women’s Forum

The Sacramento Gold Rush Chapter’s Women Forum started out as a local implementation of the NCMA National’s Women Forum.  The National Women’s Forum was an opportunity for the women of NCMA to build a network of friends, associates, mentors, and leaders that could help each other overcome the mental models of leadership that are found in a very diverse and multi-generational work place.

The NCMA Sacramento Gold Rush Chapter Women’s Forum provides an avenue for women in contracting and related disciplines to develop their leadership skills and discuss issues of importance related to gender and success in the workplace.  Whether we are aware of it or not, gender conditioning affects one’s speech, body language and patterns of interactions in ways that can undermine personal power and impede effective communication.  The Sacramento Gold Rush Chapter’s Women’s Forum is designed to provide a professional and supportive environment in which women (and men) can explore gender related issues in the workplace.  Women’s Forum events include items like informative lectures, videos and interactive practice sessions and guest speakers intended to help participants explore and enhance their skills regarding cross-gender interaction in the workplace.  Attendees at Women’s Forum events are individuals seeking to expand their understanding of these types of issues and are seeking to change their organizations for the better.

The Sacramento Gold Rush Chapter Women’s Forum has set out to assist you in developing a leadership training path that will help to break the stereotypical and confining gender roles that exist today and will work to assist our members and non-members, female and male, to develop and find their authentic leadership style for our changing times in the workforce.  The Sacramento Gold Rush Chapter intends to hold another successful Women’s Forum event in the 2015-2016 program year, as well as other special programs throughout the year. If you have any ideas for seminars that you would like to attend or even help to plan, please contact NCMAgoldrush@gmail.com or fill out our Volunteer Application online. In addition, we would love to hear from you if you would be willing to host or sponsor an event.
