NCMA – Best Contract Management Magazine Article

Purpose

This award recognizes the best articles published in NCMA’s Contract Management Magazine. It was established in 1971 by NCMA Life Member and Fellow Norman Singer to provide an added incentive to NCMA members to submit well-written, relevant articles for publication in Contract Management Magazine.

Eligibility

All NCMA members who have submitted and published an article or articles in Contract Management Magazine during the calendar year are eligible to receive this award.

Presentation and Award

The award will be presented at one of NCMA live events. Winners will be responsible for paying for any travel costs associated with receiving the award. Winner(s) will receive:

  • Plaque
  • Recognition in the Contract Management Magazine

Nomination

Nominations may be made by any NCMA chapter or individual members. Self-nominations are also allowed. NCMA’s Executive Director and Editor in Chief may make additional nominations based on positive reader feedback. After issuance of the December edition of Contract Management nomination of articles appearing in any issue of that calendar year may be made to the National Office. Nominations must be postmarked no later than February 15. Nominations should be emailed to awards@ncmahq.org.

Evaluation Process

The list of nominations received will be compiled by the National Office, and sent to a review team for evaluation. The review team will rank the articles, and in the event of a tie, the review team may ask the NCMA editorial staff to comment on the pre-edited quality of the articles in review. The amount of rewriting required may be considered in the selection and, based on that information, the review team will make one selection. The final decision will be made by March 31.

Evaluation Criteria

Factors the panel will consider in reviewing the articles nominated include:

  • Relevance,
  • Usefulness,
  • Addresses a hot topic with in the contract management profession,
  • Builds upon the existing literature base,
  • Contains high-quality and thought-provoking information, and
  • Is research-based.
